Configuring Nautilus for the 1st time:
(You may want to click the Print Note button before continuing since these instructions will disappear once you've completed the following steps.)
1. Be sure the Nautilus disc is in your CD ROM drive.
2. Click the "Set Drive" button and enter the letter of your CD ROM drive.
3. If you are running Windows in 16-color mode or on a machine with only 2MB of memory, select the "16 Color" check box (if it's enabled).
4. Click the Check CD button. Nautilus Startup will check your CD ROM drive for a Nautilus disc. Any disc-info will be displayed in this space. Also, you'll notice the name of the disc displayed above the "OPEN..." button.
Using Nautilus
NAUTILUS is a "shell" that provides information and access to everything on the current disc. To use NAUTILUS:
1. Click the "OPEN..." button which opens the current "Table of Contents" on the disc. (Also, you can click and hold down the mouse button over the OPEN button to display a pop-up menu of the Sections available on the current disc.)
2. Nautilus displays a cover - click anywhere on the screen to continue.
3. Each icon on the TOC represents a "section" on the disc. You may click on any icon to go that specified section and browse its contents.
4. At this point, simply explore the Shell and see what you think.
Try using the functions provided by the buttons in the "Control Bar" on each page in the Nautilus Shell (along the top of the screen). These will help you navigate the disc.
5. Nautilus also features the Nautilus Link. You can create text messages (use the Note button on the Control Bar) of your opinions, suggestions, etc which can then be sent to the Nautilus Team using a modem and the Link Book.
FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION....
...please see the "readme" (text) files or the Nautilus Services section on the current disc.disc.

May 1993
Our feature this month highlights the ancient art of storytelling. Watch and listen to such great storytellers as Robin Williams, Geoff Lewis, and Shelley Duvall as they practice their craft. Learn about the tradition of storytelling and find out how multimedia is rewriting the book on how to tell a tale. Brew a hot cup of your favorite quaff, kick off your shoes, and listen to a few tall tales in the Education section.
While you're in Education, don't miss the kids' demos, teachers' resources and our final installment of Smithsonian Research Expeditions for '93.
Did you miss Mardi Gras this year? Contributor Corrinne Covill didn't. She spent five days in New Orleans, and she's brought the excitement and pageantry to Nautilus this month. Drop into the Games & Entertainment section to peruse the pictures and descriptions of one of the world's biggest parties. Then try your hand at numerous puzzles, and find out what's new in the world of the Sociedy bugs.
Later, head to the Commentary section where regulars Father Mack, The Nerd and Dr. Tomorrow are joined by a special multimedia report from NSI NewsCenter One on the state of the world's children. With the help of Queen Noor of Jordan and UNICEF, NewsCenter One has compiled an array of interesting documents, video and images on this always timely topic.
When you catch your breath, take a look at the Interactions section, where we feature Asymetrix Compel. This interactive program allows you to create multimedia business presentations complete with video, audio, and more.
Of course, that's not all. You'll find new music, images, demos and more throughout this month's issue. Enjoy!
The Nautilus Team
(P.S. We mistakenly published false information for COMDEX/Fall '93 last month in both the Nautilus Letters section and the Events Calendar found in the Industry News section. We're not sure how the wires got crossed, as they say, but we promise you'll find the correct information this month in the Events Calendar.)
